There are 3 types of calculators used in stockjudge.

Fours - The fours calculator, alternatively known as the Ready Reckoner is commonly used in Non US countries to calculate scores for live stock judging. The standalone calculator uses the four letter system A,X,B,Y. The calculator requires the user to first enter the judges placings and 3 cuts (with a maximum value of 12) and will then produce all the scores for each permutation of the letters.

Fours US - The fours US calculator , also know as Fours E-H, is commonly used in the US to calculate scores for live stock judging. The standalone calculator uses the number system 1,2,3,4. The calculator requires the user to first enter the judges placings and 3 cuts (with a maximum value of 15) and will then produce all the scores for each permutation of the numbers.

Six - The Six calculator is commonly used to calculate scores for Dairy Judging. The Standalone calculator uses the six letter system X,A,Z,B,Y,C. The calculator requires the user to first enter the judges placings and 5 cuts (with a maximum value of 10). You must then enter placings for each competitor and the calcualtor will then produce all the scores for each competitor.

There 2 places in the app where you can access the standalone calcualtors.

Calculators Tab - The calculators tab will display a button for both the Fours and the Sixes calculators

The Non-Subscribers Dashboard displays a button for both the Fours and the Sixes calculators .

Only the fours calculator can swith between the US number systema nd the UK (an other countries) letter system. there are 2 places where the current country can be set and selected.

Settings - In the main application settings you can set the default country.

In Calculator - In the fours calcualtor there is a small toggle button with the UK or US flag which can be used to toggle between the countries.

The app has been designed with 3 different types of users in mind

StandAlone - The standalone user may use the app without a subscription or account. they can use the standalone calculators freely. They can upgrade to a subscription account.

Susbcribers - The subscribers are users who have paid for a subsription. Subscribers can log in and have full access to all features of the application and can therefore create and manage events with competitions, invite other users to competitions, caluclate scores etc.

Non Subscribers - Non subscribers are users who do NOT have a subscription account, but they have been added as a user to a subscribers account so that they can be added to a competition as a judge, steward or competitor. A non subscriber can log in and view competitions they have been added to. As a steward the user can log in and enter judges placings & cuts and comeptitors placings. As a competitor the user can log i and enter only their own scores to competitions

A standalone user OR a non subscriber can upgrade to a susbcription through the in app purchase of a subscription account in the application Store View. the store view can be accessed from either the Dashboard, or form the settings → Suscriptions View.

A Subscriber or Non-Subscriber can change their name in the Settings → Account view

A Subscriber or Non-Subscriber can change their email in the Settings → Account view

A Subscriber or Non-Subscriber can change their password using the forgotten password feature. This can be accessed form the login page.

An event is an occasion such as an agricultural show. An event is based at a location and is scheduled witha. start and stop event date and time. An event can have 1 or more comeptitions.

A competition is a contest being held at an event. There can be multiple competitions held at one event. Each competition has a name, a class (see competition classes), a start and end time and different types of users added to it.

The purpose of a Stockjudge competition is to find the the highest scoring winner for a specific comeptition class. This is done by adding a judges entry with cuts and susequently adding comeptitor placings and scores.

A competition must have a judge, and 1 or more competitors.

The account holder and steward can add the judges placings and cuts, and the competitors placings and scores.

A competitor can also add their own scores after being invited to a competition.

Competitions go through different states such as in draft, published and closed and can be either in progress, upcoming or past depending on the dates and state.

A competition class is essentially a competition category which determines the competition type (Fours, Fours US, Six). The application comes preset with over 100 different classes.

The competition type will determine which scoring system is applicable and which calculator to use.

In addtion a subscriber may change the assigned letters for a competition class if they want to distinguish one competition from another by using different letters.

Currently you cannot change a competition class letters within the app. to change thes letters used on your account you will need to contact support at support@stockjudge.co.uk

A standalone calculator can be sued without having an account and is used without requiring a competition. Each calculator principally works the same by adding the judges placings and custs, then fours calculator will display all 24 permutations of scores and in the case of the six calculator it will display the scores for each competitor score added.

On the other hand the calculators used in competitions are firstly determined by which competition class is selected. Then the user must enter the judges placings and cuts followed by the competitors scores. the user will only see competitor scores for each competitor.

The underlying methodology of the calculators remains the same for scoring, however when used with a competition it is used in conjunction with the competitions competitors and other factors such as verbal reason scores and deductions.
